Member’s Personal Thoughts & Experiences
The Lionheart Society believes that education plays an important role in creating
a good foundation of society. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of poor areas
inBangkokwhich have inadequate teaching facilities that children in these areas
are deprived of proper schooling and education. In addition to this, most of these
children are not supported by their parents on education and just let them tend
to themselves.
On the 21st of August 2011, our group had the opportunity to share our
time and knowledge with the Hua Lotchak Tuek Daeng Community as volunteer teachers.
The children were so enthusiastic in learning from us. It was definitely a good
chance for us to impart to them the value of education and its importance in achieving
a better life and a promising future ahead of them.

During the summer break, we went to teach at a slum in Tau Poon District. When we
reached the place, I was shocked by the horrible stench and the filthiness. With
a large number of children living in these conditions, it is only natural that not
all of them are being taken care of properly; especially in terms of education.
Although the slum’s conditions were unhygienic, the children were still smiling
and happy, making me want to teach them even more. Since the children lacked learning
basics, I struggled with them for a while, but after that I was able to teach them
some new things and help them with their homework. It felt amazing to be able to
help someone in need.
